Pros and Cons

The touchscreen so neat and pretty in brilliant colours is easy to use; moreover, wide touchscreen is responsive and allows easy selections. Nüvi 1490T is nicely designed but solid built although it’s quite heavy for something advertised as portable.

Map display can be modified so that data fields are stacked along the side for easier viewing. Nüvi 1490T is just about half-an inch thick and is so easy to stack and go. No one will have a hint that you have such a valuable travel gadget on hand.

However, there is some problem with using the traffic features. When you activate to have easy access, the unit reboots and the battery life is rather short, and that is indeed a big issue when you’re bound for a long drive. Moreover, some info is presented on big balloons that appear on the display when you tap to choose a location on the map; as a result, the balloons conceal the map features.
